Our Community
First generation immigrants have difficulty breaking the cycle of poverty. Although many of their children were born in the United States or have spent the majority of their adolescence in the US school system, achieving and improving literacy to match their age level is a difficult and on-going challenge. Many of these children have parents who never received higher education in their country of origin and do not speak English. Therefore, they cannot, even if they want to, help their children with basic school homework. Literacy is not a priority in their households – survival is. These parents have to work long hours to keep the lights on and put food on the table.

Our Commitment

Our commitment is to assist families in empowering and educating their children. Our services are like life preservers, helping families find relief in the midst of what often feels like a storm of challenges. We do this by supporting families in after-school care and nourishing their children. Although the children attend school until 4:00pm, there is still a need for more formation and education to ensure that they are maturing and progressing properly. That's where we come in. Our approach is simple: We provide physical nourishment through a well-balanced meal, intellectual support through top notch tutors, and emotional support through a caring community.
